Hydrogen Gas Improves Seed Germination in Cucumber by Regulating Sugar and Starch Metabolisms

چکیده

Hydrogen gas (H2), an important gaseous regulator, is involved in various plant growth and development processes. However, there have been few studies on the role of H2 seed germination. In this study, underlying mechanisms enhancing germination were investigated cucumber (Cucumis sativus L.). The results revealed that rate, germ length, index, vitality index exhibited a dose-dependent relationship with increase concentrations hydrogen-rich water (HRW, donor; 0, 1, 10, 25, 50, 75, 100%), attaining maximum values 75% HRW treatment. Treatment resulted higher contents soluble sugar, protein, starch than control. Additionally, activity α-amylase, β-amylase, total amylase was significantly improved by treatment compared to control, reaching at 36 h. Moreover, expression levels starch-related genes AMY BMY sugar-related SS4 SS3 upregulated during germination, particularly These suggest might promote increasing sugar metabolisms.

Phytochrome and Seed Germination: VI. Phytochrome and Temperature Interaction in the Control of Cucumber Seed Germination.

Phytochrome control of cucumber seed germination is temperature-dependent. A prolonged exposure to radiation from broad spectrum far red sources (Pfr/P = 0.05 to 0.07) prevents germination at temperatures below 20 C. Above 20 C there is no inhibition and it appears as if there is an escape from phytochrome control. However, radiation from a monochromatic, narrow band 730 nanometer source (Pfr/P...

Activation of Germination in Douglas Fir Seed by Hydrogen Peroxide.

The stimulation of the photooxidase by ammonium sulfate and potassium phosphate was examined in some detail. Maximum stimulation was as much as 10-fold in 1.3 to 1.5 M (NH4)9SO4 in the presence of 0.3 mM KCN. Part of this stimulatory effect was due to the cyanide. Phosphate and citrate also stimulated strongly, and salts of monovalent anions had smaller effects. Many typical inhibitors of photo...

Cucumber CsBPCs Regulate the Expression of CsABI3 during Seed Germination

Cucumber seeds with shallow dormancy start to germinate in fruit that are harvested late. ABSCISIC ACID INSENSITIVE3 (ABI3), a transcription factor in the abscisic acid (ABA) signaling pathway, is one of the most important regulators in the transition from late embryogenesis to germination. Our analysis found a candidate cis-regulatory motif for cucumber BASIC PENTACYSTEINE (CsBPC) in the promo...

Phytochrome and seed germination. V. Changes of phytochrome content during the germination of cucumber seeds.

Cucumber seeds are light-sensitive, dark-germinating seeds. Inhibition of germination can be induced by prolonged exposure to continuous or intermittent FR. The dark germination process and the response to FR are phytochrome controlled. Phytochrome can be detected in these seeds by differential spectrophotometry in vivo. Spectrophotometrically measurable phytochrome increases during dark germin...

Seed priming with bio-priming improves stand establishment, seed germination and salinity tolerance in canola cultivar (Hayola 401)

This research has been done to examine the effect of bio-priming on germination parameters related to seeds of canola cultivar (Hayola 401) under high salinity as factorial in seed laboratory of Shahed University based on a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) in three replications. Experimental factors included bio-primin...
